A very common question among men of all ages and women is does Rogaine really work. For men and women alike losing your hair or going bald can be a troubling circumstance. Nobody wants to see their head full of hair suddenly start to thin out. Cosmetically speaking it can be very emotionally devastating as your hair slowly falls out. Consequently people have for hundreds of years have searched for a cure for baldness and general hair loss. So far in the United States there are only two FDA approved treatments for hair loss Rogaine and Propecia. As a side note minoxidil is Rogaine in generic form. So after considerable research I decided to try Rogaine before anything else.In the future I might incorporate Propecia and a laser comb.

NIZORAL ketoconazole 2 Percent Shampoo

I believe in the post before this one I stated I was having the minoxidil side effect of increased acne. Well, the acne hasn’t got any worse however I still get them. I don’t know if it is a side effect that people get with minoxidil or if I just have sensitive skin. I tried to use a topical shampoo once and the increased acne got worse. I guess the shampoo was too harsh on my skin so it caused severe irritation and gave me more red bumps. Funny enough I seem to get more acne towards the backside of my head for some reason and at times it can be quite painful. It’s the type of acne that swells up and hangs around for a while. Unfortunately, now in combination with the acne my entire scalp is becoming very itchy. It started with occasional itching so I didn’t really pay too much attention to it.

However, now it’s much more noticeable and bothersome. I constantly feel some itchiness throughout the day and it gets very annoying at times. At this point, I’m not sure if the itchiness has something to do with the acne or is a completely separate issue. After some further research on Rogaine's side effects, it turns out I am not alone, many people in fact either get acne breakouts or various degrees of itchiness on the head. In terms of treatments, there is various do-it-yourself type of treatment advice you can find online.
NIZORAL ketoconazole 2 Percent Shampoo
One treatment that seems to be helping the majority of people and seems to have a side benefit of increased hair growth as well is the usage of NIZORAL 2% / ketoconazole 2% shampoo. In simple terms, the shampoo is supposed to help because it is a topical antifungal agent/ DHT Blocker. In some studies, NIZORAL grew about as much hair as minoxidil 2% on its own. Those were studies performed on men and women with androgenic alopecia, a.k.a baldness which is seen in men as well as women.

I am not currently at a point where I can see any significant hair growth but I have noticed that since using this shampoo my fine, thinning hair has improved quite a bit in quality. It’s now much easier to comb through and it feels better to the touch. My ultra-fine hair is also growing faster than normal and even though I have only been using Rogaine for 1 month, I’m confident that the NIZORAL 2% / ketoconazole 2% shampoo will continue to help me out for some time.

In the United States, it’s very hard to find NIZORAL; a lot of people tend to buy it from overseas. There are some online stores that sell NIZORAL but no one has really tried to list them out here so I don’t know how much they cost. The best I can tell right now is that they usually tend to cost around $20 – $25 per bottle depending on how many bottles you buy. In general, buying over the internet does have its drawbacks such as different shipping services and not being able to try the product before buying. I am deftly going to give it a try; I am going to try to procure NIZORAL 2% from an online source or even eBay. From what I’ve heard some people were able to buy it directly from eBay from an overseas seller. I will for sure give an update once I’ve used it for a little while.

Side Effect Of Rogaine Acne Breakouts

I have been using the Rogaine with the dropper for a little while now and I really find it convenient to use as compared to the spray applicator. Like I said before I find it more efficient, less wasteful, and easier to apply around my scalp. Now for those of you that are asking “When will Rogaine show results?” my answer would be after at least three months of use. Rogaine can take at least six months to work on these people while some cases can take up to years. Besides the best way to apply minoxidil people are always worried about any Rogaine side effects. I have read a lot about the side effects and to be honest it did not worry me too much, quite frankly was worried more about stopping my hair loss than any of the side effects happening to me. I did not notice any of the side effects that other users mentioned when I first started using Rogaine and what I did notice was a burning sensation a minute after applying it, which went away after some time. Personally, I believe that this was an adjustment phase of my scalp getting used to the product.
Side Effect Of Rogaine Acne Breakouts
However, some time has passed now and I believe I am beginning to suffer from one of the most prominent side effects that people can have from using minoxidil every day. Unfortunately for me, I have very sensitive skin throughout my face and I assume throughout my scalp as well. For example, even just shaving generally causes me a problem every so often because I have such sensitive skin and I break out in ingrown hairs and razor burn if I’m not extremely careful when shaving. I have to be very careful when shaving and I also had to use cortisone cream in order to help prevent any breakouts or rashes.

A couple of months ago, I began to experience the exact same kind of breakouts and rashes, which have never happened to me before. My face and my scalp are both hyper-sensitive and it is extremely painful when these kinds of breakouts occur. I have been using the Rogaine with the dropper for a little while now and I really find it convenient to use as compared to the spray applicator. Like I said before I find it more efficient, less wasteful, and easier to apply around my scalp.

So, after using Rogaine for some time, I started noticing some odd pimples spread across my scalp where I normally wouldn’t get any type of acne before. Not a lot but a few spread around my scalp where I use the minoxidil. I really don’t know if my pores are getting clogged up by the minoxidil and this is why getting acne or is it some type of rash or direct reaction to the minoxidil itself. Thankfully they are not painful at all but more of an annoyance than anything else at this point. So in a nutshell it seems like my first side effect of Rogaine is acne breakouts.

Rogaine Side Effects from the beginning were very minimal. Other than the initial redness and itching, which usually subsided after a few days. But we soon noticed that there was a change in the texture of our hair after using the product. It became finer, softer and silkier. Rogaine has been used for those fighting receding hairlines and is an affordable alternative to expensive surgeries like hair transplants.

Rogaine Dropper or Spray

Another question I had and many people have as well besides “Rogaine once or twice a day” is should I use the dropper or spray. The spray is meant for men and women, so if you are a female the dropper can be used on your scalp. Using the dropper is much easier than trying to spray your scalp and can reach all the spots that you require. If you are a male, then it depends on what type of hair loss you have. If you are in the early stages of hair loss, then using the dropper is recommended.

It is now been a few weeks of daily usage and I now have my personal favorite which I will share with you now. I initially started with the spray simply because my bottle of Rogaine was given to me with a spray attachment already on it. I used it like that for the first couple of days and noticed some “cooling” sensation around my scalp area. It was a very refreshing feeling, but one to go away rather quickly. The cooling sensation is a result of the alcohol content in the formula. In the beginning, I thought the spray was quite efficient and would be very easy to use however it soon became very apparent that a lot of the Rogaine was sprayed onto my hair and not directly into my scalp. The dropper works much better and although it takes longer to apply, the dropper is much more efficient. I now found it most effective to use the dropper once or twice a day.
Rogaine Dropper or Spray
In case you didn’t know minoxidil has to penetrate the scalp in order to work, it does not work if applied to the hair itself. In other words, it must touch your head and not your hair. So by using the dropper, you ensure that all the minoxidil is going directly to your scalp. Some of you may be very skeptical about using the dropper and in honesty, it is much easier to use the spray. I recommend trying both options and see which one works for you. If you’re lucky enough to have a lot of hair on your head like me then using the spray can make things much more complicated and inefficient. So, after while trying the Rogaine spray attachment I switch over to the dropper and I couldn’t be any happier. The Rogaine dropper makes things so much easier and as efficient as possible. After some research on the Internet and on YouTube I found my current routine of applying minoxidil every day now. In short, is very simple and direct, first give a good shaking to the bottle of Rogaine.

Next draw one mL of Rogaine or whatever dosage you use into the dropper. Now all you have to do is simply squeeze a few drops all around your head with the minoxidil directly to the scalp bypassing any hair you might have. The key to regrowing hair is to take the steps below at your earliest convenience. You will start to see results within a few weeks, at which time you will be able to grow thicker and denser hair. At this point, many people seem to like to rub in the minoxidil with their fingers or simply leave it alone and let it dry on its own. Personally, I like to comb through it with a bristle brush in order to help the minoxidil spread out across my scalp and that’s it. My best advice to you at this point is to simply experiment and stick with a routine that best fits your needs!

In conclusion, try to find what suits you best. There are hundreds of different routines here, including some with minoxidil. Just remember that minoxidil is the most critical ingredient, and as long as you’re getting that in your regimen, the rest of it is up to you. Just don’t forget that no matter if you decide to use it or not, make sure that you get your hands on a good regimen for hair growth. Sure, there are tons of options out there for your billions of hairs and follicles! You might just have to mix and match a few methods in order to find the right one for you. It is very important to remember that minoxidil does not work for everybody. While it brings about quick results, it may not be the best solution for everyone; so, choose whatever suits you best.
